Psychosocial recovery coaching

At You Me We Plus, we understand that recovering from or managing psychosocial disabilities involves more than just symptom management; it's about reclaiming your life, finding purpose, and building resilience.

What is psychosocial recovery coaching?

Holistic Support: Our coaching goes beyond traditional mental health support. We focus on the whole person, addressing emotional, social, and practical aspects of recovery.

Goal-Oriented: Together, we set recovery goals that are meaningful to you, whether they're about enhancing social connections, returning to work or education, managing daily life, or improving personal well-being.

How we help

Personalised Recovery Plan: Each support is tailored to your unique needs, aspirations, and pace. We adapt our approach as your goals or situations change.

Navigating Services: We help you understand and access other relevant services or benefits, ensuring you're supported by a network of care.

Empowerment: Our aim is to increase your self-efficacy, helping you see yourself as capable of directing your own recovery process.

Cultural sensitivity

We respect and incorporate cultural considerations into your recovery process, particularly for our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participants.

The 6 principles that guide our psychosocial recovery coaches

  1. The initial focus in the helping relationship is on the person's strengths, desires, interests, aspirations, experience, ascribed meaning, talents, knowledge, and resiliency, not on their deficits, weaknesses, problems, or needs as perceived by another.
  2. Each person is responsible for his or her own recovery.  The participant is the director of the help efforts.  We serve as a caring community of living consultants.  The healing process takes place on many levels.
  3. All human beings have the inherent capacity to learn, grow, and transform.  The human spirit is incredibly resilient.  People have the right to try, to succeed, and to experience the learning that accompanies falling short of a goal.
  4. The helping relationship becomes one of collaboration, mutuality, and partnership.  "Power with another, not power over another."
  5. Working with people in natural settings in the community is the preferred venue for helping.
  6. The entire community is viewed as an oasis of potential resources, not as an obstacle.  Naturally occurring resources are considered first, before segregated formal social service or mental health programs.
